Project Highlight
Prism Water Taxis Keeping the Woodfibre LNG Project on Track
When it comes to large-scale construction projects, reliable transportation is the backbone of daily operations. So what do you do when the worksite is only accessible by boat?

Throughout 2024, Prism was proud to provide water taxi services for our client at the Woodfibre LNG construction project in Howe Sound, British Columbia, ensuring that workers get to their job sites safely and on time. Whether managing logistics, navigating the waters, or ensuring safety on every trip, we were committed to keeping the project moving forward without a hitch.
Meeting the Challenge
With the worksite being inaccessible by land, boat transport was the only way for workers to reach the project. The client needed a reliable water taxi solution that would ensure safe, daily transportation of personnel to the worksite. Each trip had to run smoothly to keep the project on track without compromising safety or efficiency.
Certified Vessels
Knowing the challenges posed by coastal voyages, Prism selected fully certified and seaworthy vessels suited to Near Coastal 2 voyages with the ability to handle sea states up to 2 meters. Each boat was equipped to transport up to 12 passengers per trip, and we provided five trips per day, operating from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. An average of 3-4 round trips took place every day, with each journey being over a little over 4 nautical miles.

Skilled Crew
With Transport Canada-certified vessel operators, we could confidently maintain high standards in both regulatory compliance and safety. We worked closely with the client to ensure that all equipment—including vessels and safety gear—was well-maintained, properly serviced, and thoroughly inspected before each use. Our crew and passengers were equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) that met or exceeded British Columbia’s occupational health and safety regulations, ensuring safety remained a top priority throughout the project.
To streamline communication and address any challenges in real time, a dedicated Operations Manager served as the liaison between Prism and the client. This role ensured that any potential issues were resolved promptly, preventing disruptions to the worksite’s progress.
A Dependable Partner in Marine Transport
Despite unique logistical challenges, our team’s water taxi and marine crewing services provided the client with a scalable, dependable solution. Each journey underscored the professionalism and expertise that Prism brings to every project, large or small.
Looking ahead, we’re eager to continue supporting significant projects in the LNG and marine industries—delivering the water taxi and marine crewing services that clients can rely on for seamless, safe operations.
